Impedance Roof Moisture Survey Certification

Course Description

ARE will increase your credibility, improve your skills, and build your contracting or consulting business. This two-day class is a must for anyone wishing to conduct professional roof moisture surveys that will comply with published standards. 


While all roof moisture detection methods and tools will be discussed, the emphasis will be on the proper use of Tramex moisture detection equipment. 


This class and certification are for experienced roofing professionals. If you are new to roofing or have less than two years’ experience in low slope roofing, you must first attend, and pass ARE Roof Restoration I. 


Upon completion of the class you must pass a final exam and demonstrate hands on proficiency in order to receive your certification. 


Learning Objectives 


  1. Understand and be able to communicate why roof moisture surveys are critical. 
  2. Review the most common types of commercial roof materials, systems and their effect on moisture testing results. 
  3. Learn proper and effective moisture mapping techniques. 
  4. Learn the proper usage of moisture meters, including calibration, set-up and survey methods. 
  5. Understand which tools and methods are effective on different roof types. 
  6. Evaluate the critical factors that shape considerations for roof restoration or recover. 
  7. Learn how to create a report formatted in a way that meets industry and manufacturer standards. 
  8. Learn how to market and use moisture surveys to differentiate your business from the competition.
